(CNN) -- Ohio police released graphic body camera video and additional details Sunday about the shooting of a Black man by a white police officer last week.
The video shows the moments leading up to the shooting, which occurred in Akron, Ohio, on June 27. The officer, identified as Michael Wilcher, pulled over Jayland Walker, 25, for a traffic violation. Walker fled on foot, and Wilcher pursued him on foot.
The video shows Wilcher firing his gun multiple times at Walker, who was unarmed. Walker was struck by six bullets and died at the scene.
The Akron Police Department released the video along with a statement saying that the shooting was "tragic" and that the department is "committed to transparency and accountability."
The shooting has sparked protests in Akron and across the country. Protesters have called for Wilcher to be fired and charged with murder.
